For us, your dining experience doesn’t begin with you taking your first bite.
It starts with the farmer looking after & caring for his livestock, the crops that have grown through sun & (mostly) rain, & how we show these the same love & respect they’ve received through the prep, the cooking & the presentation of the food we serve.
We make everything on site. Our amazingly dedicated chefs can be found out back with their sleeves rolled up, kneading dough for our focaccia to flavouring the ice cream gently churning away.
Our menus are written with the seasons & make the most of what’s delivered to the kitchen each day.
Many of our suppliers are local & selected for their great produce. We love finding producers who care as much about their role as we do.
Our beef comes from Cefyn Mawr Farm in the Usk Valley where the Willis family have been farming for generations. Our beef is dry aged for a minimum of 28 days & showcases the best of Welsh beef.
Much of our lamb is reared just a few miles from the pub by Mike Evans. He also sorts us out with logs for the fires & hay for the pet rabbit! If Ev’s can’t get it he’ll probably know someone.
Our fresh fish is selected by Deb at Swansea fish and she tirelessly ensures the chefs get the very best catch. They also smoke our fish to order and give us some truly beautiful oak smoked flavours.
Matt Fresh is our local fruit & veg supplier. A Barry boy that grew up on the markets he ducks & dives but brings together great produce and, with his brother Tim, offer us some of the best customer service we’ve ever seen.
Our Welsh rapeseed oil is grown by Blodyn Aur in the village of Llanfihangel. It’s great for dressings & we serve it up with our own focaccia
Our wine list is carefully put together by Charles Reardon-Smith. Charles lives in the next village & so can often be seen at the pub!
Our ale, Longhouse Pale, has been developed by local brewery & friends at VOG, Barry. An award winning pint that is well worth popping in for. We also recommend Grey Trees -brewed in Aberdare in the South Wales valleys.
Our water is from Source who bottle their natural spring water found in the idyllic Welsh countryside of Llanllyr. Our lemonade, mixers & tonics are all Fever Tree
